I love these essays. I first listened to them as an audio book (like anotherreviewer) while raking leaves in autumn. It made an impression on me;
Especially the essay on 'hurry'. Raking the leaves became almost meditative
while I listened to Anrea Fiori narrate the essays. I ended up buying the book
to have a copy that I could flick through and reference.
The essays contain wisdom but they are not pearls. Sometimes the metaphors are
ill-fitting. Some phrases seem appear out of nowhere without further
explanation. But if you are patient and look for the authors intention behind
the words you will discover a wisdom and perspective that is as appropriate now
as it was when the essays were written.

This book has quite a few gems that no doubt took a lifetime of introspection and observance to acquire. Quick, simple, and powerful book.
Very good. But I didn't want to write fourteen words to.describe my personal all thoughts. But since this app has made me, so be it Jedi.
gets a four star instead of 5 because the original cover was more peaceful looking--light green. The cover doesn't match the subject matter in my opinion.
This book was a favorite of legendary coach John Wooden and much of his philosophy was inspired by the lessons in this book. A very important read. This book details something we as people tend to overlook. It's crucial to becoming the best person you can be.
Good reader of the audiobook with a calm and gentle voice to match the content. Liked it so well I bought the book on so I could highlight pieces that were thought provoking. Though written long ago, the wisdom is needed more than ever. Enjoyed it very much.
I loved this book and am now trying to live the rest of my life as calmly as possible. Being calm must make a huge difference to one's life - I wish I had read this book when I was a shy, sad teenager wondering what on earth I was going to do with my life! But I am very glad that I have read it now, even though (in my 60s) it's a bit late in the day.
